Grow Portland’s mission is to empower our community to grow healthy food.

Grow Portland is nonprofit organization founded in 2010 to create more opportunities for urban gardening and urban agriculture. We offer education, supplies, access to land, and directly market locally grown food. Produce sales, participant fees, donations and grants support our work.
Vision

All residents will enjoy the ecological, health and community benefits of urban food production.
Approach

Goals

Our work fosters a set of interrelated goals:

Health. Increase the consumption of fresh produce. Boost physical activity. Provide stress-relief opportunities. Minimize the negative health impacts of food insecurity.

Environmental. Reduce fossil fuel consumption by growing food close to home using low-input methods. Promote natural and organic food production.

Community. Provide positive interactions in the community around common goals. Provide opportunities for diverse populations to communicate and work together.

Livability. Create vibrant and beautiful neighborhoods through greening. Reduce blight by utilizing vacant land and increasing land stewardship.

Economic Development. Develop jobs and increase income through food–based microenterprise.
